UX Research — the Competitors in the Coffee shops mobile apps in the Egyptian market (Competitive Audit)
In the Previous articles I went through the discovering of the Egyptian market and I brought some statistics. Hence, I prepared my user persona then I met a potential user and conducted an interview with him and from this interview I derived the empathy map and created the user journey map.
Competitive Audit
As I am only one designer I decided to take 2 competitors only to perform the audit. My goal from the Audit was to know how to present features in the design and explore the market.
Talabat and Starbucks:
My audit covers some points:
- How do competitors position themselves in the market?
Talabt : Order food online in Egypt.
Starbucks: Start the day with great taste. - How do competitors talk about themselves?
Talabt : Medium Company and for every one want to order food and uses technology.
Starbucks: Large and for upper classes. - Competitors’ strengths
Talabt : User flow & Variaty of restaurants.
Starbucks: Brand and identity. - Competitors’ weaknesses
Talabt : No good First impression — Accessibility issues — Navigation not smooth.
Starbucks: Bad User Flow — Accessibility issues.
Gaps & Opportunities
As from studying my Competitors I found a room in the market for another app that will cover the missing points of Talabat and Starbucks:
- They both have an accessibility problem people with special needs will not be able to use their apps.
- No one offering links among local coffee shops and their customers.
