Creating a good user flow involves understanding user behaviors and designing intuitive pathways through a digital interface. The first step to create the best user flow is to map out the user journey, identify key actions and decision points. Then, prioritize clarity and simplicity in design, ensuring each step guides users seamlessly toward their goals.
In the previous articles, I walked you through mapping the user journey and we applied the steps on (Coffee shops mobile app). Now lets move to the step of creating the user flow and we shall start by explaining the notation:
User Flow Notation
- Rectangle: Typically represents a specific step or action in the user flow, such as a page or screen in a digital interface.
- Circle: Often used to denote the start or end points of the user journey, indicating where the user enters or exits the flow.
- Arrow: Connects steps or actions in the user flow, showing the sequence or direction of movement from one point to another.
- Rhombus: Typically signifies decision points or branches in the flow, where users make choices that lead to different paths or outcomes.
